Indoors- Stick a 2-3 inch fresh piece of ginger root, horizontally in well-draining soil, no more than 1 inch deep. Water and place it in indirect light. You can literally forget about it at this point and it’ll still start to grow, as I accidentally discovered. But 1 or 2 waterings during the 2-3 weeks it takes to sprout is better, as long as the soil doesn’t get soggy. It’ll just rot in that case. Read up of course for more detail. They are rhizomes and need a dying off period.
I agree. In fact, I only use fresh plants throughout the summer when my garden is growing! However, for some people, teabags are their only option. In that case I recommend Alvita teas. (I have no affiliation with Alvita, just prefer their brand.) Their teabags are not chlorine bleached like many others, and they do not use staples, string, etc.

Altho’ not all tea grades are created equal: loose peppermint tea is much higher in the taste and freshness grade than bagged, which has the teabag flavor (yuck) and uses dust & shaving pieces from the actual herb. The difference between fresh bulk dried spearmint and bagged spearmint is so profound! The former has a ‘liquor’ quality!
